Computing Exact Minimum Cuts Without Knowing the Graph

چکیده
We give query-efficient algorithms for the global min-cut and the s-t cut problem in unweighted, undirected graphs. Our oracle model is inspired by the submodular function minimization problem: on query S ⊂ V , the oracle returns the size of the cut between S and V \ S. We provide algorithms computing an exact minimum s-t cut in G with Õ(n5/3) queries, and computing an exact global minimum cut of G with only Õ(n) queries (while learning the graph requires Θ̃(n2) queries). 1998 ACM Subject Classification F.2.2 Nonnumerical Algorithms and Problems

Use of Structure Codes (Counts) for Computing Topological Indices of Carbon Nanotubes: Sadhana (Sd) Index of Phenylenes and its Hexagonal Squeezes
Structural codes vis-a-vis structural counts, like polynomials of a molecular graph, are important in computing graph-theoretical descriptors which are commonly known as topological indices. These indices are most important for characterizing carbon nanotubes (CNTs). In this paper we have computed Sadhana index (Sd) for phenylenes and their hexagonal squeezes using structural codes (counts). Sa...
متن کاملEecient Restoration of Multicolor Images with Independent Noise
We consider the problem of maximum a posteriori (MAP) restoration of multicolor images where each pixel has been degraded by independent arbitrary noise. We assume that the prior distribution is given by a Markov random eld with pairwise site interactions. Two classes of site interactions are considered: two-valued site interactions, which form a generalized Potts model; and linear site interac...
متن کاملLearning Thin Junction Trees via Graph Cuts
Structure learning algorithms usually focus on the compactness of the learned model. However, for general compact models, both exact and approximate inference are still NP-hard. Therefore, the focus only on compactness leads to learning models that require approximate inference techniques, thus reducing their prediction quality. In this paper, we propose a method for learning an attractive clas...
متن کاملComputing Multiplicative Zagreb Indices with Respect to Chromatic and Clique Numbers
The chromatic number of a graph G, denoted by χ(G), is the minimum number of colors such that G can be colored with these colors in such a way that no two adjacent vertices have the same color. A clique in a graph is a set of mutually adjacent vertices. The maximum size of a clique in a graph G is called the clique number of G. The Turán graph Tn(k) is a complete k-partite graph whose partition...
متن کاملDeterministic Edge Connectivity in Near-Linear Time
We present a deterministic algorithm that computes the edge-connectivity of a graph in near-linear time. This is for a simple undirected unweighted graph G with n vertices and m edges. This is the first o(mn) time deterministic algorithm for the problem. Our algorithm is easily extended to find a concrete minimum edge-cut. In fact, we can construct the classic cactus representation of all minim...
